Maria Diekmann is the subject of the recently produced documentary produced for BBC Nature, narrated by Sir David Attenborough. The movie – ‘The world’s Most Wanted Animal’ – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVx6OOseijE – in which Maria travels to parts of the world where the wet markets are still slaughtering pangolin for exotic medicine and delicacies. This little sculpture personifies the plight of this adorable animal, accused of starting Covid-19 by way of transmission from bats in the Wuhan markets of China. An innocent victim of the propaganda, the salient facts are that this little creature is so vital to the ecosystem for keeping the forests clean in Africa and Asia, and yet it is almost extinct.
Your purchase of the sculpture will go towards helping us save the pangolin from poachers, and protect the last remaining of the species. The sculpture is made of Quarry-Stone, a lovely mix predominantly of real stone particles. It has a lovely patina that varies with the natural stone.

This sculpture has had a mystical journey and it’s been owned by some pretty extraordinary people. I can’t help feeling there is something magical about this piece!

The Panther is a generic term for the Jaguar, the Leopard, and the Puma. This is the small version of a life-size black panther, an animal that can crouch very low and leap from a tremendous height because of the extraordinary flexibility of its anatomy. I love the fact that every movement of this big cat speaks of power.

One of my favorite of all time. This sculpture was given to the ‘godmother’ of the Holland America ship MS Rotterdam, Princess Margriet of Holland. There was a hush and then a sigh over the whole theater when it was unveiled. Everyone thought that is was a real sea lion!
